Aurelian Santar’s life after graduation seemed as if it would be quite normal. A girlfriend he intended on marrying, a job as a bookkeeper and a secure life within the walls of his home city had him destined for a safe and promising future.

What should have been an inconsequential journey by sea turns his quiet life into chaos as Dreadmann Deathbeard, the most notorious pirate in the Throgroshian Sea, hijacks the ship on which Aurelian is a passenger.

Now, he and Sabien, a new friend, who may not be who he seems, must escape from the pirate captain before they are permanently made members of his crew. Deathbeard isn’t the only thing that will threaten them on their journey, as a navy bent on stopping Deathbeard, ninjas, a necromancer, a mysterous sea monster and the unforgiving ocean itself, all imperil their lives as they race to make it back home.
