Description:

For seventeen years Jed Franklin’s life was normal. Then his father was charged with the abuse and murder of four young boys and normal became a nightmare.

His mom’s practically a walking zombie, he’s lost most of his friends, and the press camps out on his lawn. The only things that keep him sane are his little sis; his best friend and dream girl, Summer; and the alcohol he stashes in his room. But after Jed wakes up from a total blackout to discover a local kid has gone missing—a kid he was last seen talking to—he’s forced to face his greatest fear: that he could somehow be responsible.

In a life that’s spiraled out of control, Jed must decide if he chooses his own destiny with Summer by his side or if the violent urges that plagued his father are truly in the blood…

Review

"A dark and deliciously tense story that will make you wonder how alike our parents we can be." Kelley York, author of Modern Monsters and Hushed.

"Sara Hantz doesn't pull any punches shaping this story of one of the toughest, most complicated family situations a teen could face. Jed's emotions are raw and real. I ached and raged with him."  Stephanie Kuehnert, author of I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone.

"In The Blood is a gut-wrenching look inside the mind of a young man living a nightmare. A ripped-from-the headlines story that illustrates the power of unconditional love." B. A. Binns, author of PULL and Being God.

"This book grabs you from page one and draws you into the emotions of a teenage boy who is forced to facea overwhelming reality. This book is definitely not light reading, but I found it a very compelling work." Rosemary

"I would recommend this book to everyone who is done with ordinary books and seek a little more darker stories" Kaja.

"It flows easily of the pages and it catches you from the first chapter. The chapters are short so it's easy to read it but I read it in two sittings and loved the story. It's a dark subject but it's very well written and it has great characters. It's my first story by Sara Hantz but I'll be happy to pick up another book by her." Eliza120

"In the Blood is a serious and heart-breaking observation of a young boy who is forced to re-examine his whole life and attitude." KirstyV

"Gripping and fast-paced,Sara Hantz didn't mess around with niceties as she gave life to Jed Franklin's story. She did a stellar job getting into this troubled teen's mind and heart;so much so, it felt eerily real, rather than fiction." Wendy

"This is a true contemporary work -- it is thought provoking, emotionally draining, and a well applauded look into a prevalent, but not well-discovered part of our society." Jess @ Such A Novel Idea

"In the Blood is a deep story that will tug at your heart strings in the most painful way. It will make you cringe and maybe even skip over a few parts, because let's face it a few parts are a little too real. But In the Blood gives you a great look at what life may be like for the other victims, those left to pick up the pieces, those that were part of the beautifully crafted facade. In the Blood is a great story of not giving up, that no matter what life throws at you you need to pick yourself up and move along. Jed reminds us that we all have a choice." Consuming Worlds**

About the Author

Sara Hantz has been a prolific reader all her life, but it wasn't until she was an adult that she got the writing bug. She writes contemporary adult and young adult fiction and her debut book The Second Virginity of Suzy Green made the prestigious list 'New York Public Library Books for the Teen Age'. Sara lectured for many years before deciding to devote more time to her writing and working in the family hospitality business. She has two children and when not writing, working, or online with her friends, she spends more time than most people she knows watching TV - in fact if TV watching was an Olympic sport she'd win gold.
