Product Description

THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE “COMPLETELY BARKING MAD” TRILOGY
which heralds the return of Barry, the World’s favourite Brussels sprout.

The doctor said he was a paranoid schizophrenic, but he knew better. He was the Chosen One. He had the Gift. By doing small things he could make very big things occur. Just like the Butterfly of Chaos theory. And he did have all the very best motives. He did try very hard to make it work for the good of mankind. It’s just that things never worked out quite the way he planned them. Things went rather pear-shaped. Or should that be sprout-shaped, because Barry his Holy Guardian sprout must surely take some of the blame for the way things turned out.

The way that he really messed up the world.

Out of all Robert Rankin’s novels, this trilogy is by far the most extraordinary and, dare it be said, “off the wall”? This series bursts with subversive ideas, brilliant theories, twists and turns of plot that some might find inexplicable. But it all comes together to make perfect sense in the end. And as works of twentieth century comedy/fantasy they are quite simply, unique. Robert Rankin is a true original and although there will inevitably be those who find his work confusing and unsatisfying; those discerning readers who “get it” know that they have mined a rich and valuable vein and will continue to be amazed and enriched by this writer’s remarkable talent. Sprout Mask Replica can be enjoyed as an individual novel, but why not grasp the full depth of the weirdness of Rankin’s Looniverse by reading the whole series?

The “Completely Barking Mad” Trilogy is:
Sprout Mask Replica
The Dance of the Voodoo Handbag
