Flora Abner knows what it’s like to have nothing to lose. When her aunt visits and makes her an offer she can’t refuse – a sizeable loan and two years before she has to start repaying it – she jumps at the chance to start a new life.

After many hours spent watching home makeovers on TV, Flora is convinced that flipping houses will be fun and a great investment, so she buys an old house in Kentucky and dives in to making the multitude of repairs that it needs.

It doesn’t take long for Flora to realize that she might have bitten off a bit more than she can chew. When she goes into town for supplies, she meets a handyman who agrees to come out and take a look at things, much to her relief.

Heading toward home, Flora discovers a body on the side of the road and after she reports it the police suspect that her handyman may have been the perpetrator.

Feeling isolated in her new town, Flora has no idea who to trust, so she takes matters into her own hands and begins a covert investigation, all the while trying to get her home repairs done.
